Enhancing Efficacy of DCA:
Caffeine is believed to enhance the effect of DCA and potentially allow lower doses to be used while still maintaining efficacy. Tea is likely the best source of caffeine because of the added benefit of theophylline (which blocks ALL 4 adenosine receptors).
Lipoic acid has been shown to double tumor shrinkage in mouse studies. Medicor Cancer Clinic uses R+ Lipoic Acid. (A good explanation here http://www.aor.ca/assets/Research/pdf/R-LA-october_01.pdf).
Thiamine is depleted with DCA use. Benfotiamine is an analogue of thiamine that accumulates better in peripheral tissues (so it is more effective at reducing peripheral neuropathy). Thiamine crosses the Blood Brain Barrier (Benfotiamine does not) and may be needed in rare cases where DCA causes mental disturbances. (More information here http://www.thedcasite.com/dcaforum/DCForumID4/99.html).
Reducing Side Effects:
These supplements appear to be helpful in mitigating the side effects of DCA.
